Scott PinoverJohn Sciarretti is a partner in the Dover, Ohio, office of Novogradac & Company LLP where he specializes in the real estate finance, community development and renewable energy industries. Mr. Sciarretti has extensive financial experience working with businesses, including 20 years in public accounting and four years as an executive financial manager in industry. He consults with tax credit investors, syndicators and developers on structuring, financing and syndicating tax credits. He also advises clients on accounting, tax and regulatory matters. He has published articles, contributes NMTC content to the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits and is a frequent speaker at industry events. Mr. Sciarretti earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Dayton and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Akron. He is licensed as a certified public accountant in Ohio.
Scott Pinover is the Northeast region deal team manager for the Wells Fargo New Market Tax Credit Group, located in Washington, D.C. He is responsible for originating, underwriting and recommending projects for NMTC allocation and investment in the region. Mr. Pinover has more than 20 years of experience in real estate finance and development. Before joining Wells Fargo/Wachovia, Mr. Pinover served in various real estate finance/development roles including development manager for Bozzuto Homes, where he oversaw the design of four communities consisting of more than 500 units of housing. He was also a senior investment officer with the AFL-CIO Investment Trust, where he identified real estate equity investment opportunities for union pension funds. Mr. Pinover holds a bachelor’s degree in business and management, plus a master’s degree, both from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Mary Thompson is a senior vice president and senior equity originator in the Tax Credit Investment Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Based in Boston, Ms. Thompson is responsible for originating, structuring and closing new markets tax credit (NMTC)and historic tax credit (HTC) investments nationally with a focus on originating investments in the Eastern region of the United States. She has worked for Bank of America and its predecessor entities since 1994 in various real estate groups. Her experience includes commercial real estate lending, portfolio management and the managing and disposition of an OREO portfolio. In 2004, she joined Bank of America’s Community Development Banking Group as a credit products officer, specializing in NMTC debt underwriting. She joined the Tax Credit Origination Group in October 2010. Before joining Bank of America, Ms. Thompson worked for several residential real estate companies managing new homes sales and corporate-owned homes. She has a bachelor’s degree from Providence College.
John Chamberlain is senior vice president at Capital One and leads its new markets tax credit (NMTC) efforts. He has 26 years of experience in banking and finance and has been involved in the NMTC program since 2004. Capital One has invested more than $1.2 billion in NMTC structured investments through its community development entity (CDE), Capital One Community Renewal Fund, as well as other CDEs throughout the country. Capital One is active nationally in the NMTC program as investor, leveraged lender and CDE. Before joining Capital One, Mr. Chamberlain was a director at Stonehenge Capital Company. Other experience includes venture capital investing with Enhanced Capital Partners and mergers and acquisitions with Stewart Enterprises, as well as various commercial banking positions in local and regional banks. Mr. Chamberlain received his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University and his master’s degree from Tulane University. He is a member of the Investor Advisory Committee of the NMTC Coalition and an Advisory Board Member for LiftFund (formerly Accion Texas), a nonprofit CDFI headquartered in San Antonio with offices in 12 states managing the nation’s largest microloan portfolio.
En Jung Kim is vice president of community development banking, New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Group at Chase Bank, where she is primarily responsible for the origination, deal structuring and closing of NMTC investments in the Eastern region. Before joining Chase, Ms. Kim was acquisition manager at National Equity Fund Inc., where she supported the placement and management of NMTC activities of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) since 2004. Established in 1979 by the Ford Foundation, LISC is a national nonprofit organization that provides grants and loans to support community development in low-income communities. Previously, she worked as an Associate in the Global Technology Group at the Investment Banking Division of Lehman Brothers, where she performed valuation and financial analyses and participated in the execution of various types of transactions, including equity offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, she worked in Seoul, Korea, in the Global Financial Services Group at Lehman Brothers. Ms. Kim has bachelor’s degrees in international relations and economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
